SSC became the first British sports club to travel to Sri Lanka, playing matches in Jaffna against Jaffna University, Point Pedro, St Henry's, Vani, Jaffna XI, and the Lions Club in Colombo.

- When the Tsunami struck shortly after, SSC players organised a major relief effort, raising £1,500 for a Health Care Centre in Killinochchi.

Three SSC members — M Kumarasen, R Satkunadeva, and Suren Francis — represented the BTA starting XI at the Tamil Eelam Sports festival in Switzerland. Kumarasen won Best European Adult Player and Suren Francis won Best European Over-30 Player.

Football team joined the English League after winning the Sri Lankan League, competing at weekends on a regular basis.
